Once again I'm saying hello after an extended time away from the keyboard. Life had just become hectic and rather than overwhelm myself with too much, I listened and understood that something had to give. Whilst I was in that head space, writing the blog had started to feel like a chore. This was something I never wanted to occur and I knew if I continued, it would only have a negative impact on my creativity. So I packed up my laptop and immersed myself into the world of Instagram, home decoration and travel.
During this time the house has had quite the transformation with almost every room having had a bit of a makeover. I still have quite a bit to do, purchasing rugs, stair runners and finalising the front bedroom. But the bulk of the work has been completed.
In September I also spent a week discovering Lisbon. I'd never visited Portugal and I thought it would be the perfect city to explore solo. I'll leave my highlights for another post but I will say that it was an extremely rewarding experience and I will definitely travel solo again.
The photo above is the dining space within my kitchen. The room had previously been painted white and I was really disliking the space. I didn't believe I needed to update cabinets or handles, it just needed a refresh via colour. I had always envisioned painting the room a light green, similar to the colour that used to be painted in the V&A cafe. However, when I placed the samples in the room, it just didn't feel right. In the end I decided to paint the walls Farrow and Ball Ammonite and it was the perfect choice. A warm subtle grey that I believe adds a real sophistication to the room. The oil painting I found in my favourite antique store near Bournemouth. It is such a wonderful store full of old treasures and I'm really going to have to stop taking my credit card when I visit. I haven't named the gentleman in the portrait, but I think he has a kind face and I like having him peering over my shoulder when I sit at the table.
I hope you all have a lovely week and I'll be speaking to you soon x
